ENGYS announces the release of HELYX-OS v2.4.0, an open-source graphical user interface (GUI) designed to work natively with both OpenFOAM v4.1 and OpenFOAM v1606+. HELYX-OS provides both new and experienced users with a fast and efficient interface to access the CFD utilities and solvers available in the OpenFOAM library.
The new release of HELYX-OS v2.4.0 is packed with several improvements and new features with respect to the previous version, including:
- Support for dynamic mesh solvers for both prescribed and 6DOF motion capabilities.
- New potential flow initialisation method for pressure and velocity fields.
- New turbulence models available in OpenFOAM.
- Added relaxed section to meshQualityControls for the mesh component to improve layer addition when using snappyHexMesh.
- New moving wall velocity boundary condition for dynamic grids.
- New option to run OpenFOAM v1606+ via Docker.
The new version of HELYX-OS has also been extended to provide direct access to the HELYX-OS Cloud connection powered by Parallel.Works. This is a subscription based service to enable users to run OpenFOAM in the cloud right from the HELYX-OS GUI environment. ENGYS will be introducing this type of cloud-based computing services across their entire range of open-source based CFD software products.
The HELYX-OS source code, binaries and installation instructions for Linux platforms are all available free of charge from GitHub without formal user support or documentation.
