Training

ENGYS offers an extensive training programme for all users seeking to achieve a good understanding of the functionalities and capabilities available in the following software tools:

HELYX, ELEMENTS and HELYX ADD-ONS for enterprise CFD applications.
HELYX-OS combined with OpenFOAM for basic CFD applications.
DAKOTA for multi-disciplinary optimisation (MDO).

HELYX & ELEMENTS Training

ENGYS offers dedicated training courses for all our customers of HELYX, ELEMENTS and HELYX ADD-ONS to help consolidate the use of these tools in the woking environment. The objective is to enable the user to prepare and run simulations based on both general and industry-specific tutorials using both the GUI and the standard text interface in our open-source simulation engine.

The course duration is typically two days and can be delivered either at the client’s premises or at any of our locations in Europe, USA or Australia (subject to a minimum amount of trainees). The following topics are covered for either HELYX or ELEMENTS:

  • Introduction to the software product, basic concepts, utilities and solvers.
  • Mesh generation using ENGYS' meshing technologies.
  • Case definition using the GUI and TUI (boundary conditions, turbulence, solver settings, sources, etc.)
  • Solution execution and monitoring in the GUI.
  • Post-processing in ParaView and/or 3rd party visualisation tools.
  • General and industry-specific tutorials and example cases.

HELYX-OS & OpenFOAM Training

The training course for HELYX-OS and OpenFOAM is mainly intended for new users of the OpenFOAM library who want to take advantage of the features available in our HELYX-OS graphical user interface. The contents also highlight the benefits and limitations of OpenFOAM for solving real-life applications.

The course duration is typically two days and it is usually delivered at our locations in Europe, USA or Australia (subject to a minimum amount of trainees). The following topics are covered:

  • Introduction to HELYX-OS and OpenFOAM, basic concepts, utilities and solvers.
  • Mesh generation in HELYX-OS using OpenFOAM's meshing technologies.
  • Case definition using HELYX-OS and OpenFOAM's text interface (boundary conditions, turbulence, solver settings, sources, etc.).
  • Solution execution and monitoring in HELYX-OS.
  • Post-processing results in ParaView.
  • General tutorials and example cases.

DAKOTA Training

Our training course in MDO is intended for all users seeking a basic understanding of the functionalities and capabilities of DAKOTA when used in combination with other CAE software tools. The aim of this course is to enable the user to prepare and run optimisation cases based on both general and industry-specific examples and tutorials.

The course is delivered on-request over two days, either at the client’s premises or at any of our locations in Europe, USA or Australia (subject to a minimum amount of trainees). The following topics are covered:

  • Introduction to DAKOTA
  • DAKOTA basics and third-party tools to setup, monitor and post-process an optimisation run.
  • Introduction to Blender for surface morphing and parameter variation.
  • Coupling DAKOTA to Blender.
  • Coupling Blender to HELYX, ELEMENTS or OpenFOAM (depending on the course).
  • Coupling results to DAKOTA.
  • Deployment of a complete workflow around DAKOTA.
