The 2nd OpenFOAM User Conference 2014 organised by ESI-OpenCFD was held on October 7th and 8th in Berlin, Germany. ENGYS attended the conference for a second year in a row, participating as proud Silver sponsors over two days of presentations and discussions on various topics related to the OpenFOAM® CFD library. The event attracted more than 200 engineers and scientists, both from industry and academia.
ENGYS personnel are active member of the OpenFOAM® community since the library was originally released to the public under the GPL back in 2004. The experience with this software dates back to 1999 with the introduction of FOAM by Nabla Ltd. and the involvement in the original group of developers of Dr. Eugene de Villiers, managing director of ENGYS. Since then, ENGYS have modified and enhanced multiple components in OpenFOAM® to deliver a set of proprietary CFD software analysis products, including HELYX®, ELEMENTS and HELYX-OS, an open-source GUI designed to work in lieu with the latest OpenFOAM® library.
ENGYS showcased all their open-source based CFD software products during the conference, including live demonstrations of HELYX®, ELEMENTS and HELYX-OS which had an excellent reception amongst the attendees.
