About the Event

The ENGYS User Group Meeting brings together the global community of users of our open-source CFD software tools HELYX and ELEMENTS. The event will be hosted in person only (no online live broadcast will be made available to attend).

In this keynote Mr. Guzman will review current CFD activities at Stellantis North America to highlight the benefits of using the open-source methods available in ELEMENTS to optimise the aerodynamic design of new electric and autonomous vehicles.

Mr. Childs will deliver a comprehensive tour of external aerodynamics and the use of CFD at BWT Alpine F1 Team.

CFD METHODOLOGY FOR HIGH-SPEED EXTERNAL AERODYNAMICS AT KOENIGSEGG

H. Kounenis - Koenigsegg (Sweden)

Using bespoke simulation templates available in ELEMENTS, Koenigsegg has developed a methodology to verify the external aerodynamics performance of the Jesko Absolut, including compressibility effects needed to handle the record-breaking 500 kph maximum speed of this supercar.

CFD COUPLED APPROACH FOR EV THERMAL RUNAWAY SAFETY ANALYSIS

J. Juszkiewicz - ThermoAnalytics (USA)

In this presentation Mr. Juszkiewicz will introduce the benefits of coupling the software TAITherm with HELYX / ELEMENTS to perform thermal runaway safety analysis of electric vehicles.

DYNAMIC PRESSURES WITHIN A CARGO TUNNEL DUE TO HGV PASSAGES

A. Nicoli - WSP (UK)

Dr. Nicoli will describe the extensive CFD work performed by WSP as part of a real-life project to ensure that new wall panels in a cargo tunnel do not become detached from the backing frame due to pressure perturbations resulting from passing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

CFD PERSPECTIVE ON THE PLANNING APPLICATION PROCESS IN THE CITY OF LONDON: A REAL-LIFE CASE STUDY

S. Capra - Ramboll (Denmark)

In this talk Mr. Capra will discuss the challenges of building planning applications in the City of London and how CFD simulations are employed to complete this complex process.

VALUE OF WIND FLOW MODELLING IN BUILDING DESIGN AND URBAN PLANNING IN ICELAND

This talk is focused on the importance of CFD in the work perfomed by EFLA to develop a clear policy and guidelines for wind and microclimate assessment in urban planning in Iceland.

Prof. Maki will discuss the benefits of combining machine learning techniques and CFD to predict complex ship motion in ocean wave fields to simplify a wide range of maneuvering simulations and reduce time and costs.

The Madison Theatre was built in 1917 to sit over 1,800 people, making it the largest of the theatres at the time in Detroit’s former theatre district “Grand Circus Park”. In 1984, the Madison closed for good. In 2011, Dan Gilbert’s Rock Ventures purchased the building and transformed it into a collaborative tech hub to encourage partnerships among entrepreneurs, including a large 130-seat auditorium and a rooftop with great views of the city.
